The room is built around two materials some people would be nervous to pair: a rich, nature-inspired green matte tile running vertically up the walls, and a warm terracotta star and cross porcelain tile underfoot. Green and orange sit opposite each other on the color wheel, which is exactly why it works.

Vertical stacked tile

The freestanding tub and wall filler
A freestanding tub looks effortless and is anything but. The drain has to be located precisely, and a wall-mounted filler means the supply lines are roughed into the wall long before any tile is set. Move that decision late and you are opening a finished wall. This is the kind of thing that gets settled in the planning stage to prevent expensive changes later.
The wet room
Placing the freestanding tub inside the shower area creates a wet room: an open-concept bathroom where the shower is not closed off by a separate tray or stall. The entire floor and walls are waterproofed and a floor drain handles all the water for the space.
