Deck & porch FAQs
Do I need a permit for a deck or porch?
Usually, yes, for anything structural. The good news is you don't have to deal with the city. We handle the permitting and inspections as part of the job.
Wood or composite, which should I choose?
It's a trade-off between cost, look, and maintenance. Wood costs less up front but needs periodic sealing. Composite costs more but is close to maintenance-free. We'll walk you through both based on how you plan to use the space.
Screened porch or open deck, which is better for me?
Depends on how you want to live out there. An open deck is great for sun and grilling. A screened porch buys you more usable months and keeps the Georgia bugs out. We'll help you weigh it against your budget and yard.
How long will it last and what upkeep is involved?
Built right, either holds up for years. Composite is basically wash-and-go. Wood wants a clean and reseal every couple of seasons to stay looking its best.
Can you build on a sloped or tricky yard?
Yes. Grading, footings, and elevation changes are part of the job. A more complex site can affect the price, and we'll be upfront about that when we quote it.
